TUC/TRH Release v1.5.0

In March 2025, we released version 1.5.0 of Thistle Update Client (TUC) and Thistle Release Helper (TRH), our client software running on devices, and command-line developer tool, respectively. This is a major release that adds certificate-based mutual authentication for MQTT messaging, and the support of provisioning per-device private key and certificate.

In order to enable MQTT support in TUC, one needs to configure the mqtt_url and mqtt_ca_cert_pem fields accordingly in TUC's configuration file. Currently, MQTT can be used send device telemetry information to  Thistle Control Center (TCC, Thistle's web application) for user audit and inspection - it’s currently a beta feature in TCC that will be released in production in April, 2025.
